Wabi Sabi

Thoughts on Wabi-Sabi (not to be confused with Wasabi).

Wabi-sabi is a Japanese philosophy that embraces the beauty of imperfection and transience. It recognises that everything is fleeting and imperfect, and that this imperfection can actually enhance an object or experience's beauty. Both wabi-sabi and aikido share a similar approach to life, one that emphasises humility, acceptance, and a deep respect for the natural flow of things. Aikido practitioners strive to achieve harmony with their opponent and the world around them, while wabi-sabi encourages us to appreciate the beauty in simplicity and the impermanence of all things. Together, these two concepts offer a powerful way of living that emphasises balance, awareness, and inner strength.
